The Lonely Forest – Arrows
Originally scheduled to be released on 1/11/11, The Lonely Forest’s Arrows is now officially available. And though the release date no longer resembles actual arrows, it’s just good to have another album from these dudes.
I first saw them open for We Were Promised Jetpacks at the Summit where they destroyed an abbreviated set. I subsequently bought Arrow’s predecessor We Sing the Body Electric! and jammed it for six months while spamming Facebook with live performance videos (my apologies to your newsfeed) until they were back in Columbus opening for Margot and the Nuclear So & So’s at Circus. During both shows they played early versions of songs that have thankfully found their way on to Arrows‘ playlist (Coyote, Tunnels, End It Now, Woe Is Me).
Now, I’m looking forward to their return with The Joy Formidable at the Basement on April 4th. Couldn’t be a better group of guys and I hope they have a lot of success. Considering they’re opening for Death Cab for Cutie on 9 dates this Spring, wider exposure seems imminent.

Note: Not to be overlooked in this post is MONA, a great band originally from Dayton, OH that is also opening for The Joy Formidable on April 4th. They seem equally on the verge and, like The Lonely Forest, have the songs to back it up.
