I never understood what the Turtles saw in April, especially that stupid yellow pant-suit she used to wear. But she was one helluva reporter.

What do you know about the venue that will host the Okkervil River/Titus Andronicus show? I’ve never been to a show in Columbus, but am doing my best to get to that one.

    • Hey Blake, sorry it’s taken so long to reply. I’ve been out west at Coachella (post pending). Okkervil River/Titus is at the Newport, which is one of Columbus’ best venues. Located on High Street directly across from Ohio State’s campus, the Newport is PromoWest Productions’ mid-sized venue. Not sure of the capacity, but it’s large enough to hold a decent crowd without losing a sense of intimacy. The venue has a lot of history and character, inside and out. The marquee on the outside lists the upcoming shows. A large atrium receives the crowds after the main door. Gives way to a large bar area which ultimately leads toward the stage. The floor is lowered, wrapped by an elevated viewing area allowing for two tiers of great viewing. Don’t think you’ll be disappointed by the bands or the venue. The only risk is that the show sells too many tickets too quickly and PromoWest moves the show to their largest venue, the LC Pavilion, which will significantly reduce your enjoyment of the show. Let me know if you go! I’ll be in Cincinnati that night for Iron & Wine (I know, what kind of Columbus music blog is this…) so maybe a guest review? Thanks for the comment!
